Ashlee Simpson's father has confirmed she has had a nose job. Joe Simpson, who manages her singing career, says the 22-year-old star underwent rhinoplasty last year purely for health reasons. October 12: Gossip! Weekly Rag Mag Wrap-Up!
It's one step forward and two steps back for Brit Brit who rekindled her relationship with mom Lynn over the weekend, applied for an emergency custody hearing, then almost missed her court appearance, but showed up just in the nick of time. Now, the judge awarded her a weekly overnight visit with her sons Jayden and Sean, as long as a court-appointed monitor is there. Do you think she'll give up her table reservation at Les Deux on those nights? And little sis Jamie Lynn is back in the picture, and coming to Brit's defense. When a woman approached the duo and shouted she didn't want Spears in the neighborhood, the younger Spears shouted, "Then move the f**k out, b***!" My my, it seems like the Zoey 101 star had a little "you can take the girl outta Louisiana
" moment of her own.

Tableaux an instant hit with spectators
PRIDE OF INDIA: An Army contingent marches through the Rajpath during the Republic Day parade in New Delhi on Saturday. NEW DELHI: "If there is paradise on earth, it's here, it's here, it's here," said the seasoned State commentator Jasdev Singh as the Jammu and Kashmir tableau coasted past a cheering crowd on Rajpath here on Republic Day. Fabricated on the lines of the famous Tulip Garden in the Kashmir Valley, the tableau proved an instant hit with the spectators. The preceding military bands and caparisoned camels and elephants already set a high standard of showmanship. Among the dignitaries who watched the event was French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Taken out as part of the R-Day parade, most of the tableaux lived up to expectations with groups of dancers leading from the front.
'Roids to ruin
Hollywood singer Mario Lanza would crash-diet to prepare himself for film roles after big weight gains, and it finally caught up with him when he died at 38 in 1959. Then there's the case of Karen Carpenter, who was 32 when she died in 1983 due to complications of anorexia. We're surprised a steroid scandal hasn't hit Hollywood already. Former movie star and current California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is an admitted steroid user, and Sylvester Stallone pleaded guilty in Australia last year to bringing human growth hormone and testosterone into the country, yet their careers seem to go on unaffected. Them steroids are getting to this country. Share your thoughts on steroids in the entertainment industry or let us know who you think is on steroids. Visit www.thnt.com and click on forums@thnt.com.

Ashlee Simpson's tweezer beauty
Ashlee Simpson insists her smooth skin is down to a tweezer "whizz" not Botox. The 23-year-old singer - whose father Joe recently confirmed she had rhinoplasty to reshape her nose and help her breathing in April 2006 - insists her smooth skin is down to the work of her great make-up artist. Her spokesperson said: "Ashlee has never had Botox in her life. She credits her eyebrows to her make-up artist who is a whizz with the tweezer." .

They won with defense. While the offense was stymied most of the night, Kansas came up with three interceptions that led to 17 points, including All-American cornerback Aqib Talib's 60-yard return for the game's first score. He was chosen the game's most valuable player. The victory answered critics who said the Jayhawks benefited from an easy schedule and were exposed by a loss to Missouri in the regular-season finale."I guess they got to say we played somebody now!" Talib said. The No. 5 Hokies (11-3) lost their fourth consecutive BCS game. It was a bittersweet finish for the Hokies, who revived campus spirits this season following the April 16 massacre that left 33 students and professors dead."It hurts right now," quarterback Sean Glennon said. "But when we look at it tomorrow or next week, I don't think anyone at Virginia Tech is going to be disappointed with this season."The Jayhawks played in their first major bowl since the 1969 Orange Bowl, and they made a big splash at the start, racing to a 17-0 lead after 23 minutes.Virginia Tech closed the deficit to 17-14 before Glennon was intercepted by Thornton, whose 30-yard return gave Kansas the ball at the 2 with 11 minutes left.
