Ashley Tisdale's New Nose No Longer On Show

Pop singer Ashley Tisdale has issued a public apology for canceling two concerts over the weekend because she's yet to "fully recover" from a recent rhinoplasty.

The High School Musical star debuted her new nose at a gig in New York on Friday night, just two weeks after going under the knife to fix her severely deviated septum. But she then pulled out of two subsequent shows - one in Miami, Florida, and one in Philadelphia - fueling fears for her health following the procedure.

Now the 22-year-old has confirmed the reason for her no-shows - but reassured fans she's on the road to recovery.

She writes on her website: "I'm so sorry I wasn't able to be at the holiday shows this weekend. I haven't fully recovered from my surgery and had to make the difficult decision to cancel the appearances.

Ashlee Simpson insists she doesn't Botox

Ashlee Simpson insists her smooth skin is down to a tweezer "whiz" not Botox.

The 23-year-old singer - whose father Joe recently confirmed she had rhinoplasty to reshape her nose and help her breathing in April 2006 - insists her smooth skin is the work of her great make-up artist.

Her spokesperson said, "Ashlee has never had Botox in her life. She credits her eyebrows to her make-up artist who is a whiz with the tweezer."

Last week, it was reported Ashlee visits plastic surgeon Dr. Raj Kanodia every month to have collagen filler injected into her face.

A source close to the singer said, "She is determined to stay looking as young as possible for as long as possible. The fillers get rid of any wrinkles, and keep her face looking young, taut and smooth."

Last month, Ashlee's dad ignored his daughter's wishes by speaking publicly about her nose job.

Parents blamed for teen yobs

So really people we speak of child abuse WHAT ABOUT PARENT ABUSE... what happened to mine when she started hitting me...nothing...what happened to mine when she quit school at age 14...nothing...what happened when at the same age she left home and started to experience drugs and alcohol and sex...even when police were asked for help...nothing...In fact she was shown how to play the system and was paid to stay away from home...and even when I approached child protection...I was told she is a lost cause, you would be better off washing your hands of her... like hello does anyone else see anything wrong with this picture??... So honestly I know some parents might not do a real good job and yes their children are a direct result of themselves and their attitudes... but in my case and i am sure many others I would never have dreamed of raising a hand to my mother...or swearing at her...I would have gotten a clip around the ears to say the least...

January 2004 - December 2004

Steve Martinovich was prepared to dislike the novel Mr. Golightly's Holiday but was pleasantly surprised when it overcame a weak beginning to ask serious questions of the reader
Bush should move ahead with personal retirement accounts: Although George W. Bush devoted two lines to the idea in his State of the Union address, Steven Martinovich thinks that personal retirement accounts should receive more attention
Leftism and missing history: When it comes to history, writes Bruce Walker, leftists can be quite selective about what they'll tell you. The examples of Fidel Castro and the civil rights movement prove that
Israel to Syria: Get out of Lebanon: If Syria is truly interested in talking peace with Israel, argues Ariel Natan Pasko, than they should back up their words with action over the issue of Lebanon
Kerry: Around the far left corner, ahead by a nose: Super Tuesday is still a ways off but that isn't stopping Paul Weyrich from making some predictions about what will go down that big day and who will likely be left standing
Why the Democrats still don't get it: As a Catholic writer Peter Vere wasn't surprised that Catholics for Dean tried to recuit him into their ranks.

Behind the scenes at the U.S. Figure Skating Championship

Before the skates go on, there's a whole lot of footwork behind the scenes to make the U.S. Figure Skating Championships successful.

Hibbing native, Julie Schmitz, has a big role. Employed at the U.S. Figure Skating Headquarters in Colorado for about a year now, she coordinates the lives of about 100 skaters as they go to and from competitions year round.

Schmitz says, "It's really been neat that the first national championships that I go to are in my home state. It's really fun."

Saturday Schmitz showed us her world, the system of support behind the skaters.

She took us to the warm up area, just behind the entrance to the rink at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. There, skaters were leaping around and stretching out, without skates.

Let truth, common sense reign in Iowa

It can make Mike Huckabee a phenomenon and not a flash, John McCain the future and not the past. Moments like this happen in history. They're the reason we get up in the morning: "What happened?" "Who won?"

This is my 2008 slogan: Reasonable Person for President. That is my hope, what I ask Iowa to produce, and I claim here to speak for thousands, millions. We are grown-ups, we know our country needs greatness, but we do not expect it and will settle at the moment for good. We just want a reasonable person. We would like a candidate who does not appear to be obviously insane. We'd like knowledge, judgment, a prudent understanding of the world and of the ways and histories of the men and women in it.

Here are two reasonables: Joe Biden and Chris Dodd. They have been US senators for a combined 62 years.

New Orleans repopulation slowing down, study says

The population recovery of the New Orleans region after Hurricane Katrina struck 29 months ago is slowing down for the first time since the disaster, a study released today suggests.

While the six-parish area covered by the analysis is making economic strides, the apparent slowdown in repopulation could jeopardize any gains, said the Brookings Institution Metropolitan Policy Program and the Greater New Orleans Community Data Center.

The report blames a shortage of skilled workers, affordable housing, public transportation and child care for the population trend.

The report is based on the number of households receiving mail. From September to November, New Orleans households actively receiving mail increased by 1,061 - only 15 percent of the growth seen during the same period in 2006, the report says.
