Clinton betray some (but not too many) hurt feelings with genuine humor, she upped the ante by flattering Barack Obama as "very likable." Which prompted the Illinois senator to match Mrs. Clinton's most human moment to date with the most inhuman of his own. To use family-newspaper language, he behaved like a jerk - or, to be more precise, like Rick Lazio, the now-forgotten adversary who cleared Mrs. Clinton's path to the Senate by boorishly waving a paper in her face during a 2000 debate. Mr. Obama's grudging "You're likable enough, Hillary" made him look like "an ex-husband that was turning over the alimony check," in the formulation of Paul Begala, a Clinton backer. The moment stood in stark contrast to Mr. Obama's behavior in the corresponding debate just before the Iowa caucuses.

McGinn takes 67's loss sitting down
Whether Brian Kilrea benched Jamie McGinn yesterday to get a rise out of the 67's captain or his teammates, it still couldn't prevent Ottawa from falling to the lowly Kingston Frontenacs. If the move did make one thing obvious that wasn't before the game, it's that things are definitely not rosy around the Ontario Hockey League team these days. "Killer decided to sit me down. We didn't see eye to eye, so he just gave me a rest for the rest of the game," a downcast McGinn said after he watched much of the third period from the bench as the 67's (22-22-2-2) slumped to their fifth straight Ontario Hockey League defeat, a 5-3 loss before 7,906 at the Civic Centre. .

Nicole Richie was "pleasantly surprised" to be released from prison after just 82 minutes of her four-day jail sentence. The pregnant socialite -- who was jailed for a second DUI conviction -- was booked, released and sent home in an 80-minute spell at the Century Regional Facility in Lynwood, Calif., on Thursday. Richie's attorney Shawn Chapman Holley claims the star was prepared to serve a four-day sentence and was surprised by her early release. He tells People.com, "Nicole was aware that most people with sentences similar to hers are booked and released in a matter of hours and she was hoping to be treated like everyone else. "Nevertheless, she was prepared to serve her entire four-day sentence had the Sheriff's Department required her to do so." Richie was arrested on December 11 when she found driving her Mercedes Benz the wrong way down California State Route 134 highway in Burbank, Calif.
Plan a Super Bowl chili buffet
The white chicken, bean and hominy chili (which can be made vegan with soy chicken) will indulge those seeking a lighter, brighter and tangier tomatillo and green chile-based version. In contrast to its red counterpart, this chili gets its unique flavor profile from cumin, coriander, dried thyme, cinnamon, beer, lime juice and a hint of sugar. Both chilis can be made a day or two in advance and refrigerated, cooled and covered, or be prepared well in advance and frozen in airtight containers. Bring to serving temperature in a soup pot over low heat. Keep warm on the stove or in a slow-cooker. Finish off the meal with a tantalizing toppings bar so that your hungry fans can dress out their chili to suit their taste, piling on additional texture and nutrients. Score some extra points with a side of Sallie Gough's Double Corn Fingers, which are warm, buttery, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside.
