| Robotic Prostate Cancer Surgery Performed On Two Brothers, Just Hours ...
"We are blessed to have each other to depend on. If you have to go through something bad like cancer, you're glad to have a friend to go through it with," said one of two brothers from Savannah, Georgia recovering from robotic prostate cancer surgery. The two siblings flew to The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York to have lifesaving surgery on the same day this week. Dr. David B. Samadi, M.D., Chief of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery in the Department of Urology at Mount Sinai successfully performed the robotic prostate cancer surgeries on the siblings one after another on Monday, January 14th, 2008. "The brothers have benefited physically and even emotionally as a result of having their prostatectomy with the da Vinci robotic technology at Mount Sinai together," said Dr.
Romney Wouldn’t Accept VP Slot ... Not That McCain’s Offering
SANFORD, FLA. -- As he continues his unrelenting focus on the economy a day before the critical Florida primary, Mitt Romney said that hes not interested in being John McCains running mate. Hes a hero, but his views on the economy I think are sort of summed up by his own statement that its not really something he understands that well, Romney said of McCain at an airport rally attended by over 200 people. Hes said that a couple times and indicated that when he chose his vice president, it would have to be someone who really understood the economy. Well, I do understand the economy Im not going to be any vice president to John McCain either. There seems to be no love lost between Romney and McCain whose attacks on one another have become increasingly vitriolic and sometimes personal.
UW wins easily, moves on to Pac-10 slate
The party was great to end the year, an 82-50 victory over Idaho State. Yet like a lot of revelers, the Washington basketball team will wake up Tuesday morning, wondering where it is and how the heck it got there. Too much alcohol isn't the problem. Too many ranked Pac-10 teams bunched tightly on the schedule in the month ahead -- five in the next eight outings -- represent a 31-day hangover waiting to happen. If the Huskies (9-4) ever had a New Year's resolution to make good on, it's this: Time to get rid of all those bad basketball habits once and for all, the sporadic defensive lapses, the occasional offensive tentativeness and the chronic poor free-throw shooting that made the preseason a challenge at times, and finally beat fourth-ranked and unbeaten Washington State, which shows its face again at Edmundson Pavilion on Saturday night.
Responding to the Jack Lynch Non-Story
I'm going to try not to flip out. Which I may anyway. Because I'm angry, and I'm repulsed by this whole episode, and it's a large part of what's been keeping me away from this "blog" for too long. A Spokane Police Department internal investigation released in its entirety Wednesday says Deputy Mayor Jack Lynch was not stopped in High Bridge Park last August or apprehended at any time for any illegal activity. Remaining unanswered are the circumstances surrounding Lynch's still-unexplained medical leave, which was announced Dec. 29 and is expected to continue until March 1. So what? This has always always been a complete and utter distraction from the "story," intended only to damage Mr. Lynch's credibility by implying he's infirm, and likely has a disease of which he is ashamed, or that implies activity unbecoming to an All Powerful City Employee(!).
Line of Scrimmage: Super Bowl Tale of the Tape
You can hear them on radio call-in shows from coast to coast, read their thoughts in blogs and on public forums all over the web. Some are paid for their opinions, and some aren't, but they're united in a quest to diminish the work of the 2007 New England Patriots, whether they beat the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLII or not. Even at 19-0, no way should the Patriots be considered the best ever, they say. The argument has to do with dominance, and with the notion of fear. During their past 10 games, the Pats have not always been a dominant team. The Eagles (31-28) and Ravens (27-24) - two non-playoff entities - came ever-so- close to ending New England's run at perfection. Four higher-quality opponents - the Colts (24-20), Giants (38-35), Jaguars (31-20), and Chargers (21-12) - had their chances as well.
