Marques Murrell was dropping off a friend at the Philadelphia airport Monday night when his cell phone buzzed.

He needed to turn in his green jersey.

And go pick up his new one.

The New York Jets signed Murrell off the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad on Tuesday, giving the Jack Britt graduate his first run on an active NFL roster.

Murrell left Philadelphia Tuesday afternoon and practiced with the Jets on Wednesday. He said he expects to be on the field during the Jets’ next game, Nov. 18 at home against Pittsburgh.

“I’ll be able to play football on Sundays now,” the former Appalachian State standout said in a phone interview Wednesday night.

Murrell said he and his agent negotiated with both teams on Monday, and he decided to leave when the Eagles wouldn’t match the Jets’ offer.

Tummy tucks, nose jobs jump

Nancy Fox, who considered plastic surgery in her 50s but declined, had eyelid surgery and liposuction on her neck at age 73.

Michelle Anderson, a 35-year-old mother of two, had a tummy tuck because "I wanted to look like I did before I had kids."

Greg Nehls, who grew tired of his droopy eyes and double chin, had work done on both.

"Men don't want to look old either," said Nehls, 52, a dairy farmer.

Its heritage as a Perth coastal city important, Fremantle has at times worn a white with red V for heritage games in keeping with the former Fremantle clubs that once existed long ago.

Geelong

Apart from a very small handful of league games Geelong has worn a traditional blue & white hooped Guernsey since their inception into the competition in 1897.Some experts & historians have claimed that the colours symbolize White Sea birds flying over blue water in line with the coastal feel of the city of Geelong. In the first twenty years like other clubs, the Guernseys were of a lace up type, the blue & white hoops were much narrower than they are today.Known as the Pivotonians early on, then eventually the Cats it was from 1908 the adopted a much wider and brighter blue & white hoops, a Guernsey that stayed virtually the same ever since.

Devon man nabbed in violent Geno's assault

Police have arrested a Chester County teenager in a December attack that left a Geno's Steaks employee with broken bones and permanent hearing loss.

Kevin Bacci, 19, of Devon, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, terroristic threats and related offenses for the Dec. 27 incident, police said. He turned himself in Thursday.

Detectives are seeking a second suspect. An arrest warrant has been issued, but police declined to release further details.

Besides hearing loss, victim Tony Chestnut also suffered a concussion, broken nose and ribs and a fractured vertebra in the 6:30 a.m. ambush in the landmark eatery at 9th and Passyunk.

The attack came after two men began shouting insults at employees inside Geno's. Chestnut, who was outside power-washing the restaurant's exterior walls, intervened and implored the men to stop.

Dallas, I love you, but I've found Austin

In Texas, everyone has a barbecue opinion. Here, if you ever say "[insert barbecue joint name here] is the best barbecue in Texas," someone will say to you, "That place is pretty good, but you know where the best barbecue place in Texas is? [Insert name of any barbecue place that's not the place you just talked about.] The barbecue there is amazing." And then, someone will say to them, "Actually, there's this place out in BFE that's so good. We should drive there. It's way better than [the place that other person said] and it stomps [the place you said]." And, this barbecue joint smack-down will continue until everyone in the room wants barbecue but from separate places.

My personal barbecue opinion is if it's cheap, I'm eating it.* So, when I saw that Sonny Bryan's had new lunch specials available, I rode my horse on over there.

The GOP Will Have to Steal the Next Election Because They Cannot Win ...

The Republican party is losing its "business base" because it's on the wrong side of every issue that will decide the Presidency and the make up of congress. Those issues include the economy, the endless war, ballooning deficits and health care. A killer issue is a fact gaining traction even among the GOP: the GOP is bad for a good economy. I've got the stats to prove that beyond any reasonable doubt. Also spelling doom for the GOP is the fact that even hard-nose businessmen are "fed up" with GOP myopia, its fanatical obsession with so-called "social issues", primarily, abortion and gay marriage. These are not the "wedge issues" they used to be. People are just sick of hearing about it! Give it a frickin' rest. Focus On Social Issues. Countless businessmen I know tell me they are exhausted with the Republicans' focus on abortion, gay marriage, and the host of social issues the party insists on putting on the front burner.
