Nasal Valve Collapse
Nasal obstruction is one of the medical conditions that warrants rhinoplasty. Nasal obstruction can have many causes, which will fall into either the anatomic or non-anatomic categories. Nasal valve collapse occurs when the nasal airway's narrowest part becomes weakened and interferes with the normal flow of air. ORINDA, Calif. -- Debbie, a 17-year-old now down to 86 pounds and ever closer to her secret goal of 81 pounds, slowly awoke in her bed on a hospital intensive care unit. She was so groggy from her drug overdose that the only thing she noticed was the painful burning sensation in her nose. She then discovered that she couldn't move her hands to rub the unpleasant sensation away. Debbie had survived her suicide attempt and finally figured out that padded leather restraints secured her wrists and ankles to the sides of the bed. The burning sensation came from a tube that had been inserted through her nose down into her stomach. The tube had been used initially to pump out whatever pill fragments in Debbie's stomach had not been absorbed before she reached the hospital. After monitoring her for awhile the medical doctor decided that because her nutritional condition was so precarious, the nasogastric tube would be used for feeding Debbie's malnourished body.
Ashley Tisdale's Nose Nipped
There's something about blond singer-actresses named Ashley and surgical procedures of the nasal variety. This time around, however, Ashley Tisdale is seeking to preempt tabloidal before-and-after schnoz shots, admitting that she underwent a rhinoplasty procedure in Los Angeles on Friday. But the 22-year-old High School Musical star is adamant the procedure was not done for cosmetic purposes. "Growing up, I always knew I had a deviated septum on the right side of my nose, which caused trouble breathing," she told People. "The older I got, the worse it got. I went to get it checked out, and the doctor told me the septum was 80 percent deviated and that I had two small fractures on my nose." Still in bandages from the five-hour procedure, Tisdale took care to assure fans she hadn't gone under the knife for a more photogenic profile and should not be looked to as an advocate of the plasticizing of Hollywood.
