CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Things are broken, all kinds of things. Just look around. We have bad leaders, bad air, bad diets, bad television - it's not good. So I've taken it upon myself to fix things, one thing at a time. Today I'm going to fix the government - one part of it, anyway. Look, I'm not just some blogger yaking about this or that. I've got bona fides. I'm barely educated on two continents, have a bunch of degrees (I'm using my doctorate for a tea coaster as I write), I know how to say MacDonald's in at least a dozen languages, am the former Sunday chef at the Die Scheune outside of Mannheim, and I know way more than that gasbag Dr. Phil. Now, onto the fixing of things. Government is big, and that's part of the problem. It's much too big to fix in a single column, so I'll start with one branch at a time.

When I smiled, my nose was crooked, and it was hard to breathe on one side, Iovene said. My doctor in the U.S. wasnt interested in redoing the surgeryhe said I was too picky, and my nose was fine.
Palatka couple, son are victims of crash
Joseph Bellamy, 31, of Pinellas Park was piloting the Cessna Skyhawk 172 as he took his parents, Gordon Dale Bellamy, 55, and Susan Louise Coyle Bellamy, 53, on a sightseeing flight. All three died when the plane crashed about 3:40 p.m. into Old Tampa Bay, about 100 yards short of Runway 22 at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport. Their bodies were recovered from the submerged plane, said Tom Iovino, spokesman for Pinellas County, which owns the airport. Gordon Bellamy was a plumbing contractor in business with his brothers, Donald and Bruce, at Bellamy Plumbing Inc. in Palatka; the business was started by their father. Three wreaths were on a fence Monday at the Bellamy Plumbing office. Susan Bellamy was a registered nurse who worked at Putnam Community Hospital but had changed jobs to work at a Palatka dialysis clinic, said a nephew, Jason Fair.
Robotic Prostate Cancer Surgery Performed On Two Brothers, Just Hours ...
"We are blessed to have each other to depend on. If you have to go through something bad like cancer, you're glad to have a friend to go through it with," said one of two brothers from Savannah, Georgia recovering from robotic prostate cancer surgery. The two siblings flew to The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York to have lifesaving surgery on the same day this week. Dr. David B. Samadi, M.D., Chief of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery in the Department of Urology at Mount Sinai successfully performed the robotic prostate cancer surgeries on the siblings one after another on Monday, January 14th, 2008. "The brothers have benefited physically and even emotionally as a result of having their prostatectomy with the da Vinci robotic technology at Mount Sinai together," said Dr.
When the Giants came of age
Never has an NFL game that meant so little meant so much," I wrote before that game, a flip reference to the unprecedented TV coverage due more to an NFL-cable contractual dispute than anything else. The joke is that sarcasm turned out to be unintended prescience. If the 18-0 Patriots win Super Bowl XLII, the talk will be of perfection, of being untouchable not just against the New York Giants or the entire NFL but history. But ... if the 13-6 Giants pull off a Namathian upset, then what happened that Saturday night at The Meadowlands will be forever linked with what transpired next Sunday at University of Phoenix Stadium. For three quarters at Giants Stadium, New York had the better of the play against the Pats. New York led by 12. Good Eli reigned. The Giants were ornery and feisty, fighting for extra yards, first downs, TDs.
