ONE IN, ONE OUT AT POMPEY

The full-back joined Pompey from Charlton in January 2007, but after making just five first-team appearances this season he has decided to move on.

The former Liverpool defender has joined Rennes on an initial loan deal until the end of the season but the French side will have the option of signing the player permanently during the summer should he settle at the club.

ON THE REBOUND: St. Frederick's Woods set to return after breaking ...

It hasn't exactly been the type of December that St. Frederick point guard LeMontre Woods and his St. Frederick basketball teammates will remember fondly.

But coach Jason Kosik, despite a current six-game losing streak, totally believes things will be better for his Warriors this month.

And, he is hoping the "good news" can start tonight when St. Frederick visits Cedar Creek for a District 2-1A clash.

Woods, who came to St. Frederick this year from Excelsior Christian along with 6-4 sophomore teammate LaDarrin Williams, has quickly become a vital part of the Warrior lineup.

However, in mid-December he suffered a broken nose against Sterlington and is just now getting back on the floor.

"He missed four to five games with the injury but is back now and will make a big difference," said Kosik, who says the main goal for his 10-10 Warriors remains to make the playoffs.

Fifty years of Kiwanis Kapers takes stage this weekend

Some of the past shows include Sentimental Journey in 1974, Hooked on Kapers in 1985 and Kapers goes Hollywood in 1993.People "come with envy that that person has the nerve to walk out on a stage and remember anything from lyrics to lines," he added. But lines are missed sometimes, and that’s OK, said Dean Bauer, a veteran of more than 30 Kapers. The community atmosphere is what the people come for which gives actors the freedom to "get up and make a fool of yourself," he said.Bauer said decided to add some emphasis to a song he was singing one night during a production some years back. He forgot a a line instead but saved face by saying "I missed it, John (Kytic), bring it around again."The slip worked, and the audience enjoyed it, he said."If you mess up, it’s quite often funnier than the straight line," Bauer said. The Kiwanis Kapers is the major fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club of Bradford, which serves a variety of community organizations with a special emphasis on children’s’ causes.

The name's Quantum. Quantum of Solace.

That's the title of the new James Bond movie, once again starring Daniel Craig as 007, which was announced today.

Previously known by the working title "Bond 22", the new film also stars British newcomer Gemma Atkinson and Ukrainian model and actress Olga Kurylenko.

Coming of age in skating should not be like this

Both Nagasu and Flatt are still flying high right now from their performances, in which they each brought the crowd at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships to its feet in St. Paul, Minn., this past weekend. When asked when she might come down from that high, Flatt said in a telephone interview, "I have no idea."

Here's a guess: In March, when she's not competing at the World Championships in Sweden.

By virtue of their age, Nagasu, 14, and Flatt, 15, cannot compete at the World Championships. Nagasu and Flatt could have landed 20 triples instead of the seven they each did Saturday night and that wouldn't have made a difference. The International Skating Union still wouldn't give them an invite.

The ISU devised an age limit after Tara Lipinski became the youngest woman to win an Olympic gold medal when she was 15 back in 1998.
