School sets a healthy example

If it's good enough for one of the most famous age defying beauties in the world, then it's good enough for me.

I'm making another pot of my mum's soup tomorrow to get me through the weekend.

I still haven't had a drink since New Year and actually haven't missed it.

I am going to a Dundee United "Hall Of Fame" event on Friday night when the wine will be flowing but have decided to drive there and back.

I NEVER even have a wine gum when I am driving. I don't see the point of trying to second guess whether you are over the limit, and I firmly believe there should be a no booze rule for drivers anyway.

I will enjoy my meal with a sparkling glass of water and no one will try and coax me into having a drink because they know I have the car.

The broken bloodline

Watching him receive a verbal pistol-whipping from BBC veteran Jeremy Paxman at a London press conference earlier this month, it was hard not to feel sorry for Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the 19-year-old heir to Pakistan's most perilous throne. Did the first-year Oxford student really think he was up to the job of heading the Pakistani opposition, even nominally? At home in Pakistan, critics found other faults. “He's not a Bhutto, really, he's a Zardari," muttered a party loyalist, a few days after Benazir was assassinated. “We need a true Bhutto to do the job." Bilawal may be happy to slip back to Oxford for another three years. But in Karachi there is another young Bhutto who, if dynasty is your game, seems better qualified to lead the Pakistani opposition. Fatima Bhutto is clever, sassy and savours the salty taste of Pakistani public life.

J.T. tossed out of J.R. picture

Reports last week said John Travolta had decided to drop out of the long-awaited Dallas movie. Now the N.Y. Post has a juicier version: He was dumped.

This thing has been hanging fire forever - the TV series ended in 1991 - and Travolta has been the attached big name for years. No doubt he would have been super as the scheming rotten oil baron at the heart of the story.

But the Post has "insiders" saying that "about two weeks ago" Travolta "had the role of J.R. Ewing taken from him and given to Ben Stiller."

Obama wins South Carolina primary

Instead of kicking him in the butt she clings to his coat tail and so admits her inability to do it on her own. As a politician she is as much a joke as the former first ladies in South America . What a contrast to Britain's former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Germany's Kanzlerin Angela Merkel, both political heavy weights.
